C>SK : 16 - Drygate Cask Ale Festival, Glasgow

Date visited: November 2016
The highlight of our recent Scottish adventure was a well timed beer festival held by Drygate brewery. The brewery is located on the site of the Wellpark Brewery, famous for producing Tennent's, and was only a short walk from Glasgow city centre.

C>SK:16, Drygate's cask ale festival, promised 30+ breweries, 100+ beers and live music all under the roof of the craft brewery. Having never visited before I was impressed with the Drygate premises, with a big bar area split over two floors and the beer festival situated in a hall at the back.

Tickets for C>SK: 16 were only £5 and pints cost from £2 (or £1 for half!) so the festival was an absolute bargain. The live music was also pretty fantastic with acoustic acts on the big stage providing some background music to the beer tasting.

With a number of breweries featured we were spoilt for choice however we did our best to sample a selection. I tried a number of award winning beers and particularly enjoyed the ones from Swannay Brewery in Orkney, Island Hopping being one of the aforementioned award winning beers. Credit to the Drygate staff for helping out with their recommendations throughout the day too.

Although I enjoyed a number of ales at the festival I could have quite happily enjoyed a few more of Drygate's own brews having thoroughly enjoyed some of their selection at Crossing the Rubicon the previous night. Crossing the Rubicon serves the rather excellent combination of beers and curry, we would definitely recommend paying it a visit when in Glasgow.

We easily wasted the whole day at Drygate and had a great time. We will definitely keep an eye out for future festivals next time we are in Scotland.
